<a href="#comment-240" rel="nofollow">@Wild Dingo </a>
The whole situation is just heartbreaking all the way around. Freeman was an elderly man himself, and I got the impression that he just didn't know enough about how to care for this pack of dogs that he clearly loved very dearly. Heck, he lived in a tumble-down mobile home lacking electricity or running water; he could barely care for himself it seems.

One thing that really disturbs me about this case is that there were SIX episodes of attacks within the year leading up to the victim's fatal attack. This situation was apparently reported to the animal control authorities at least twice. But it doesn't appear that the authority took any action. Had the authority done what it was supposed to do under Florida's Dangerous Dog Act, the victim might still be alive and the dogs may have been able to be rehomed and rehabilitated. And Freeman would not be in prison.

WTF is WRONG with people? Oh man, I actually feel sorry, not just for those attacked and KILLED, (poor woman and her family) but the actual dogs themselves. To be that worked up in a frenzy constantly attacking any person or animal, must have meant they were very unhappy, extremely frightened, very unstable because they had no real leadership. It's disgusting that people like this guy should be allowed to own an ant farm, let alone a pack of dogs, (pits at that). If /when he gets out, i hope part of his parole is learning how to be a better animal owner or enforcing education on animal cruelty. I'd LOVE for him to be barred from ever owning another animal again, but I realize that is impossible to do legally.
