Frankie the Law Dog is the blog of Tampa Bay area attorney Suzanne Bechard, proud owner of Frankie Whiteshoes. Frankie is a handsome black Labrador Retriever mix who was found abandoned in Dayton, Tennessee in April 2008.

Frankie was a Rescue Dog
In June 2009, Frankie welcomed the adoption of his little sister Lucy, a chocolate Labrador Retriever mix who was rescued in Dade City, Florida. She was found abandoned and starving. Now, she’s healthy and happy in her new home.

Lucy was Adopted from a Shelter
There is no excuse for the abuse, neglect and abandonment of animals. But this blog will not focus exclusively on that. We will also be blogging about the many ways in which animals enrich the lives of humans, and we will talk a little bit every now and then about how the law impacts animals and the people who love them.
We are always open to constructive suggestions on how we can improve this site to make it a resource you’ll use every day.
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring–it was peace.”
- Milan Kundera
What a lovely thing you’re doing, Suzanne. I haven’t had a dog since childhood but Frankie reminds me so much of my black Labrador mix, Prince. He had a white part on him like Frankie’s in the above photo.

Thanks for stopping by, Rosemary!
I am also a Tampa Bay area attorney. I am about to file a lawsuit against a day care facility for damages for the death of my St Bernard. They left him out in the heat that we have been having for approximately an hour. He suffered a heat stroke and after 4 days in intensive care and having incurred vet bills exceeding $7,500, he died. I have begun my research and realize the law, while still somewhat gray, favors the day care in terms of the type of damages available. I was wondering if you are aware of any cases that are particularly favorable to my position or factors that may assist me. thanks
